Puppies, Pyramids, and Performance

Here's Posey! She's been hanging out with us a little bit lately because she's just too little to stay home. We think she is awesome and we want her to come every day, but Ms. H. says no.

Working (and walking) like Egyptians. Here are the members of the Bubastis Nome. They're all decked out. Watch for the other groups to show up here.

Great performers in the Reflections contest. These four know what Beauty Is... and how to represent it. Great work girls! We're proud of you!

Thanksgiving

With the thankful holiday upon us. I hope we can all strengthen our gratitude attitudes. We spend a lot of time working together, learning together, playing together, and being together together. As contributors to our community, we each need to remember to be thankful for our classmates and to cut each other a little slack. Be thankful that we are all different and have different challenges and strengths. Everyone needs breathing room and space to grow. Show gratitude by giving each other that space, and kindness. I am thankful for each and every one of you! You are awesome! Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Halloween!!

We had a great Halloween full of costumes, treats, games, and even a parade! Thanks to our wonderful room parents who always do so much for us!

Slash was among the first to arrive!

Quite a spread, complete with a spooky menu.

Putting our best foot forward in the games.

Pictionary has never been so scary! Check out the cute broom treats we made.

Some of our sillier spooks! We love Halloween!

Haunted Houses

First you have to cut everything out carefully.

Then you have to get it all glued together without getting yourself stuck.

Then, your house is painted and spooked up!

Haunted houses and funny hat day all at once!

Tap Dogs!!

On Wednesday we got to go to Kingsbury Hall to see the Tap Dogs do their thing!

We were very well behaved!

Here are the Dog's feet at the beginning of the show. It was pretty funny when they tricked us.

What an awesome show! Thanks to all the parents who donated money so that we can have terrific opportunities like this one!! We couldn't do it without you!

Gertie Ball

The reigning champion (James) came by to help us refine our Gertie Ball skills.

Somehow, maybe by cheating, he always manages to be the last one standing.

Here we are before the uprising...hey, pass it to me!

Welcome Back!!

Oh the joys of a new school year: new classroom (or not), new teacher (or not), new classmates (or not), and best of all...lots of baseline assessments! Hurray!! (insert evil teacher laugh right here) As you can see, we are already hard at work and only a few of us are pulling out our hair. (notice the two boys in the first picture) It is exciting to be back in the swing of things. Welcome, welcome! It's going to be a great year!

August Already??!!

It's that time of year again...the long, lazy days of summer are quickly coming to a close. Better get those last rays of afternoon sun and those day trips to Lagoon out of the way. After August 25 (?) you are mine!! Of course that means I am yours then too. I'm looking forward to another great year! Expect to spend time as an Ancient Egyptian this year, and as a World Class Explorer wandering around the globe in search of treasure to bring home to Big Bucks Billionolla (me). There're so many great opportunities ahead of each of us. I hope we can all take advantage of our time together this year, and make it one of the very best school years yet!! See you soon!!

Tinikling!

Tinikling has been a part of Ensign for 47ish years. Ms. Hamilton's mother started the tradition when she was a teacher at Ensign many years ago. Everyone who has been a 6th grader at Ensign ever since, has had the opportunity to learn this Polynesian pole dancing. The music has changed over the years, as has the required clothing, but the enthusiasm of the dancers remain the same. Thanks to all the great parents who stepped in to teach and ensure that this great tradition continues for a new group of 6th graders.

Some dance while some pole. It hurts when you get your foot caught, or your fingers crunched.

The airplane arms...go, go, go!

Relaxing after a great performance. Bring on the ice cream!!
